Anyone have a paper tape punch/reader? Or, know anyone who does?

Wow,
That brings back fond memories, model 28 and model 35 Teletype machines and
loading
DEC machines with paper tape. Then there were the "high speed" paper
readers and punches
at 1200 baud. Also had to deal with both 5 and 8 level codes. Have not seen
any of that in
ages. Used to have a collection of model 28's and a model 35. Miss that
stuff for some strange
reason.

Those mechanical things are what we'll need if Skynet takes over our
fancy machines.

Don't forget the Cauzin strip and reader that was promoted in the early
days of microcomputers as a substitute for floppy disks.

Poor kids of today don't get to make a tape of BEL characters, run it
through the reader in the teletype machine in their dad's office, and then
tape it into a loop...

With some backlighting to shine through the holes you could coax your phone
into reading the tape via the camera/video.

Won't work if there are any hanging chads.

Yeah, the reader part is easy to reproduce. It's the punch that's daunting.

Daunting, but possible, maybe a modified laser engraver
https://www.ebay.com/itm/2000mW-USB-Laser-Engraver-DIY-Mark-Printer-Cutter-Carver-Engraving-Machine/352493835623
with some type of feed to pull the tape through.
